Ranch Hand

We are a family-owned and operated animal and crop farm located in beautiful Whitehorse, Yukon. We are looking for an experienced Farm/Ranch-hand to help us expand our operations on a full-time, permanent basis. We are a small team, so the ideal candidate has experience in, and/or is willing to learn, a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to: Operating, maintaining, and repairing farm equipment and machinery such as planting and harvesting equipment, including keeping records and being aware of the condition of machines; Crop preparation, production, and harvesting, including wheel-move irrigation; Animal care and keeping, including handling and moving, nutrition and health, calving and farrowing; General building, repair, and maintenance, including fencing and other structures. Requirements: 1-3 years of experience operating and maintaining equipment such as tractors, vehicles, crop production equipment, etc.; 1-2 years of experience working with livestock. Experience with cattle, especially calving and animal welfare, will be considered a strong asset; Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team and willingness to take direction; Self-motivated, willing to take on responsibility and accountability, and a problem-solver; Comfortable with a changing schedule and priorities, and willingness to work overtime/on-call during the summer/busy season; Valid class 5 drivers license and personal vehicle; Experience hauling trailers with equipment will be considered a strong asset; Experience with mechanics and/or welding will be considered a strong asset.
